The Social Justice Ministry serves as the community services arm of Saint John the Baptist Church.  The Social Justice Ministry may work with Catholic Community Services for the Gift of the Drummer Program at Christmas, sponsor an Easter charity drive, and other service projects.   We support requests from Catholic Community Services. For more information please contact:

The Going Green Ministry focuses on being a good steward of God’s creation.  We recognize that justice for the environment is inseparable from justice for the poor, and promote actions that leave the world livable for all.

The Government Liaison represents a Catholic viewpoint at local, state and national levels of government.  Information and workshops on legislative issues and the legislative process are available to enable Catholics to become more involved in public policy decisions.

This Culture of Life initiative by Bishop Solis is to help us understand the more comprehensive nature of what it means to be ‘Pro-Life’.  Often being ‘Pro-Life’ is equated with being passionately against abortion.  It is that of course; however, we also understand pro-life as being aware of and supporting the dignity of human life at every stage, from conception to natural death.  In fact, being pro-life begins before conception.  Being properly prepared for a pregnancy ensures the most peaceful and healthy experience possible even in the womb.

Saint John the Baptist parish volunteers deliver complete meals during the lunch hour, Monday through Friday, to several senior citizens in the Draper area.  The program is run by Salt Lake County Aging Services, who provide administration of the program and prepare and package the meals.

This is an ongoing collection of non-perishable food items to stock our parish Food Pantry for our families in need, the Food Pantry at Catholic Community Services and Saint Andrew’s Parish.  Please put your donations in our Food Pantry Chest that is located in the Gathering Space outside Room B.  Please contact the Parish Office with any questions.
