The Diocese of Salt Lake City asks children to participate in two years of faith formation as they prepare to receive their sacraments. At St. John the Baptist, this journey is centered on the family. Parents attend classes alongside their children every other Sunday from 9:30–10:45 AM, growing together in their understanding of the Catholic faith. Students who attend a Catholic school in Utah and are at the appropriate grade level fulfill this faith formation requirement through their Catholic education. Below you will find information regarding the parish and the school track, as well as our most up to date calendar of classes and events.
The Parish Track:
This track is designed for registered parish families whose children do not attend a Catholic school and wish to prepare for the sacraments through our parish program. Faith formation is centered on the family, with parents and children gathering together every other Sunday from 9:30–10:45 AM between the 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM Masses. During the alternating weeks, families continue learning at home through a guided lesson sent to the parent's email, helping faith become a part of everyday family life.

The School Track:
This track is designed for registered parish families whose children attend a Catholic school in Utah. Through their religion classes, students receive the faith formation required for sacramental preparation. In addition to participating in Mass and the Sacraments on a regular basis at the parish, families are encouraged to take full advantage of the rich sacramental life offered by their school, including school Masses, retreats, service opportunities, prayer experiences, and other activities that help students grow in their relationship with Christ and His Church. Students on the school track are not required to attend Sunday lessons.

With the Eucharist as our firm foundation, the mission of St. John the Baptist Parish is to build up the faith of our children so that our families may be a witness of Christ’s divine love.
